The deeper rooting structure of grasses and wildflowers require more organic content and media depth for moisture retention. You’ll need 6″ to 12″ of media to support the wider plant palette. Higher organic component limits media porosity, so Semi-Intensive media is 10 to 20% heavier than Extensive green roof media.
