Planting a green roof is the most common method of installation in the United States. Immature to mature green roof plants are supplied and planted as plugs directly into the pre-installed media layer. The plants then grow in over time.
Establishment depends on the maturity of plants and the density of the planting. Cost is directly proportionate to the initial density planted. For example, 6 plugs per square foot will cover and establish quicker, but will be more costly than 2 plants in the same amount of space.
