Intensive Green Roof Systems
There are 3 basic types of green roof systems: Extensive; Semi-Intensive and Intensive.*
Intensive systems are typically characterized by:
- More than 12 inches of media (may be many feet)
- Widest possible plant palette–may include trees and bushes
- Requires irrigation
- Growing Media is the heaviest media–over 8 lbs per inch per sq ft to support shrubs and trees
