Semi-Intensive Green Roof Systems
There are 3 basic types of green roof systems: Extensive; Semi-Intensive and Intensive.*
Semi-intensive System
Semi-Intensive systems are typically characterized by:
- Media depth is typically between 6” and 12”
- Slightly wider choice of vegetation than Extensive roofing systems, including grasses and deeper rooting perennial flowers
- May require irrigation
- Heavier growing media component–7 to 8.5 lbs per inch of depth per sq ft
